| Ted is a nationally recognized leader in workplace health. He received his M.P.H. degree from Loma Linda University School of Public Health in 1990 and his B.S. and R.N. degrees from Montana State University. He also holds a B.A. in Sociology from Hobart College. From 1984 to 1999, he managed employee health and disability programs for L.L. Bean. His responsibilities in this senior position included health and disability insurance, workers' compensation, wellness, EAP, ergonomics, and onsite medical services. His leadership helped establish L.L. Bean as a company that is nationally known for caring about the well-being of its employees. For 15 years, Ted's interests and experience have focused on developing and implementing health-service programs that improve employee health and quality of life while saving employers money. He is a co-founder of HWO, together with Ben Amick. Ted speaks frequently at national conferences and has published two textbook chapters and ten articles in peer-reviewed journals. |
Ben is an internationally recognized leader in building healthy workplaces and developing new outcomes-based measures of people's ability to enjoy their life and work. (See www.benamick.com.) Currently an associate professor at the University of Texas School of Public Health and a scientist at the Institute for Work and Health in Toronto, Canada, Ben is a co-founder of HWO, together with Ted Rooney. He received his Ph.D. from The Johns Hopkins University in 1986. From 1992 to 1999, he served as a research scientist at The Health Institute at Boston's New England Medical Center, world-renowned for its research on health outcomes. He was also a faculty member at both the Harvard School of Public Health and Tufts School of Medicine. Unlike many academic researchers, Ben has worked in the private sector, as an ergonomics consultant and in management consulting with The Hay Group. He is the author or co-author of over 30 articles in peer-reviewed journals. |
