Key projects and accomplishments

 

  • Project Leader for the Health Action Roundtable from 2014 to current, the largest private and public purchasers of the Maine Health Management Coalition, representing almost 30% of commercially insured residents in Maine.

 

  • Project Leader for Aligning Forces for Quality, a national initiative of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, sponsored by Maine Quality Counts in Maine, 2008-2015. Responsible for all grant deliverables, achieved by getting key partners to work together, including the Sponsor, The Maine Health Management Coalition, Maine Quality Forum, and MaineCare (Maine DHHS).

Results: Met all grant deliverables for the 7-year effort with a $4 million budget.

 

  • Project Leader for the Maine Health Management Coalition 2002-2012.  Led the MHMC Pathways to Excellence initiative, nationally recognized for healthcare performance measurement and public reporting. Currently a part-time project leader for the MHMC.

Results: Measurable and measured improvements in safety and quality.

 

  • Facilitated the use of publicly reported healthcare quality and safety data by the Maine State Employee Health Commission in their benefit design.

Results: Large Maine employer designed health benefits to support employee’s choosing the safest and highest quality providers, which helped result in Maine having among the safest hospitals in the country.

 

  • Project Manager for Health and Ergonomics Study from 2000-2004, which measured the effect of workplace ergonomic interventions on employee health and productivity.

Results: More than 7 publications in peer reviewed journals (details on LinkedIn or CV).

 

  • Consultant to three major employers in the Northeast on the development and implementation of integrated employee health improvement and wellness programs from 2000-2005

Results:  All employers won major national health promotion awards and recognition from Wellness Councils of America and others.

 

Awards

  • Recipient of the 2014 “20 in 20” Award from the Maine Health Management Coalition. A panel of national judges selected “20 individuals from around the state that have made significant contributions to improving the quality of care delivered to Maine patients.”

 

  • With colleagues, led L.L.Bean to win a C.Everett Koop Award in 1994 that recognized “outstanding worksite health promotion and improvement programs.”
